Scenes From Our Weekend

Aug 15, 2016

Happy Monday!  I hope everyone had a great weekend.  We were up bright and early to get Sterling off to his first day of first grade.  He is excited so that makes me feel so much better.  Last year when he started kindergarten I was so nervous and apprehensive but this year I don’t feel that way as much.  I am sad Summer is over I truly wish we could have had like 2 more weeks.  But not my choice so back to the grind we go.  I took this picture this morning before we dropped him off- he seems so grown up.

Friday morning we stopped in to meet his teacher and see his classroom.  Frances kept asking if this was her desk too.

After that Sterling had his last day of tennis camp and Frances and I headed to Huriyali.  I had heard so many great things about it and was excited to try it out.  I got a green juice that had kale, cucumber, green algae, and spirulina and avocado toast.  Loved them both, I will be back again.

Frances is in a phase where she likes to take a book everywhere.  Usually it has to be a paperback book not a kid’s book and it makes me laugh:)  She pretends to flip through and read it.

Her dress and blouse in this same stripe are on sale.  I love the rainbow stripes so much!

Friday night we went to our friend’s pool and swam and ordered pizza.  The kids had a blast.

Loving this tassel + stripe cover-up.  It is under $100 and also comes in this fun print.

Frances playing with her cousins Drew and Avery.  Because a water spout is more fun than the pool sometimes.

Saturday I hit up the gym and then ran a few errands.  A friend sent us this picture from last weekend and I love it.  A definite framer.

My bathing suit is still on sale- I am in a size medium.

Saturday night Sterling had a friend sleepover.  Matt and I cooked a delicious veggie dinner and watched Bloodline.  We made Cauliflower steaks and they were so good.  I used this recipe and used capers instead of pine nuts because I didn’t have any.

Anyone else love these mini Sofia cans?  I always buy them at Target they are great because sometimes I just want a glass of champagne and hate to waste a bottle after opening it.  My embroidered blouse is now 60% off!  Size down it runs on the large side.  I am wearing XS.

Blouse + Shorts

Sunday morning the kids were up super early so we headed to the Variety Store for breakfast.  You can’t beat the views.

I love their Greek Omelet and of course I always need a side of bacon.

Sunday’s Best.  I picked up this dress during the Loft sale and really love the fit.  It is great for church or work.  The material is thicker and I like the black/tan stripe combo.

Dress + Necklace + Shoes

That night Matt picked up some fresh fish for dinner and I made this chopped Thai Salad.  It is hands down one of my favorite salads.  It is so light and refreshing!  Perfect for Summer- you can see the recipe HERE.

As a treat I sometimes let Sterling sleep with me.  I remember growing up when my Dad was out of town and my mom would let us take turns sleeping with her and I always loved it.   So since last night was the night before school started and he was a little nervous I let him sleep with me:) I snapped this right before we went to sleep.  Love my sweet baby boy so much.

Have a great start to your week.

Happy President’s Day!  Since school is out today I am having a birthday party for Sterling and a few friends because he turns 6 tomorrow.  I honestly can’t believe he will be 6!  Time flies.

Thursday night we had a girl’s night at Bin 152.  It is hands down one of my favorite wine bars in town.  I had not been in almost year, so I was thrilled to go back.  They have a such a great wine selection and their charcuterie boards are the best I have ever had.

A few things I am loving these days | Tassels + Fringe + Embroidery

The shoes are only $32 and you can use code PRES today to save additional 25% off.

Purse | Fringe Heels | Embroidered Dress (sold out similar style) | Embroidered Blouse (on sale)

Frances Moon after her Valentine’s Party.  She was so excited about all the candy she got:)

I enjoyed lunch at CO, a spot I often forget about,  their food is always on point.  We started with edamame spring rolls and beef kimchi dumplings.

Friday night Matt and I tried a new restaurant with a few friends called The Watch.

It is located on the rooftop of a new boutique hotel on Wentworth Street called The Restoration.  I definitely want to find an excuse to spend a night at The Restoration.  I loved the atmosphere and decor.

The menu had lots of great options.

Wearing Julie Vos Ring

I enjoyed the Roasted Vegetable Salad and Cauliflower Soup and Matt had the lobster roll, served with the most delicious homemade chips.

I wore my first Lily Pulitzer purchase for me, The Elsa Blouse.  My girlfriends talked into buying one and I have to say I love the fit and the bright pink.  Sometimes the Lily patterns can be too much for me but I loved this solid version. The pink is the perfect shade of hot pink.  Sizing wise I recommend sizing down, I am in an XS.

Elsa Blouse in Tropical Pink color

Saturday we had a low key afternoon and then headed to our neighbors for Happy Hour and pizza.

I made my Greek Salad Bites again, always a favorite and easy appetizer to whip together.

How cute are the Koi Fish appetizer plates??  They come in 4 different colors.

Sunday Matt brought us all Bojangles for our Valentine’s Breakfast.  Gotta love The Bo.

Then we headed to The Southeastern Wildlife Festival.  We had never been before.  I feel like every year one of us is usually sick this weekend so we were excited to check it out.

Sterling rode a camel and loved it!

The kids also loved the petting zoo.

Thanks to our friend Thomas we managed to get a family picture where everyone was looking at the camera and smiling:)

My Missoni Scarf is on sale in a pink version.  It is also on sale in a non infinity version too.  My mom gave me this scarf 3 years for Christmas and it is still my favorite scarf ever.

After we put the kids to bed Matt and I celebrated Valentine’s Day with some champagne, our favorite vodka penne, and tiramisu.

Have a great week.

This weekend the kids and I decided to head to Charlotte for a quick trip for my mom’s birthday. I hate that we don’t live in the same town so we rarely get to celebrate birthdays together. It was a quick trip but a good one!

My mom surprised Sterling when we got in town with a Olaf costume.  He was a little jealous Frances got her costume before him so he was ecstatic to get his own costume.  My mom found the costume at Party City for all you Frozen Fans like us.

We took the kids to the mall which they always love.  Thank you to Nordstrom for the free balloons.  They kept Sterling happy for awhile.

I finally got to meet my newest nephew Maxton and I am so in love.  He is the most scrumptious baby ever.  Dare I say it made me miss having a newborn around.  The noises and facial expressions they make are so darn cute.

Wore this tee shirt all weekend.  I swear by the Rag and Bone Jackson Tees and love the faded look of this one.  I like that they are longer and not too fitted.  I am in small for those curious.

Jackson Tee in Faded Black | Crew Neck Version (which I equally love)

We celebrated my mom’s birthday.  I made a homemade peanut butter cake (thank you pinterest).  My mom loves peanut butter desserts and this cake was fairly easy to whip together.  You can find the recipe HERE.  It was good but I felt like the cake cooked too long and was a bit dry the icing however was awesome!!

Wearing my favorite Pheobe Sandals

We enjoyed a fun Mexican dinner out because lets be real with crying kids Mexican is always a good idea!  They can be loud and no one notices:)  Frances Moon was showing us how she claps and Sterling is always loving on Finley.

Sunday I went to Loft to try on the nude blouse in person and loved it!!  Get it while you can such a great neutral color and fit.  You can’t beat the price!

|| Nude Blouse

Love seeing my dad with all the grand kids. Melts my heart and the kids all love their Big Poppie so much!

My sister and I hit up the Winestore for some wine for our Sunday dinner.  It is my favorite wine shop in Charlotte.  I love their tasting machines.  It is great to sample the wine before you buy it and they have such a great selection!!

This was one of our favorite wines we tasted. We bought 4 bottles of it! I highly recommend.

Happy Monday!

Scenes From Our Weekend

Jul 15, 2013

Did everyone have a fun filled weekend? Ours was part fun with the other part spent taking care of a sick child. I blame camp last week. I swear as soon as the kids are around other kids they catch something. I didn’t get much sleep Friday or Saturday thanks to my needy little man- it gave me a little taste for my life to come very soon, up all night!

First off,  I snagged my first piece for our nursery and it was a major deal, trust me.  I am on a major budget for the nursery so I will try to share deals and steals along the way.
Pretty excited about this to hang over our changing table for baby boy or girl.

The most exciting thing that happened this weekend, was I became an aunt again.  Matt’s sister had her baby early Saturday morning.  She was not due til August but this sweet baby was ready to enter the world.  He is just perfect and they are doing great.  This is such a special year for babies in both sides of our family.  I love seeing my sister and sister in law become moms, it brings me so much joy.  There is nothing more special than a newborn.

Visiting babies makes me hungry, like seriously hungry.  I think it reminds me of when I had Sterling and couldn’t eat for so long since I was in labor for 32 freaking hours.  Anyways we hit up Chick Fila after the hospital for breakfast.   My new favorite breakfast there is the multi grain bagel with chicken, cheese, and egg.  It is so delicious and I most definitely ignore the calories.  And ignore my Lindsay Lohen nails that is not dirt just eye liner I could not get off (and yes I need a manicure bad).

I swear this Summer we have had so much rain around here.  It broke a little Saturday night to  reveal the most gorgeous rainbow.  It stretched across the whole sky, I have never seen one this stunning before.  It reminded me of God’s presence and how amazing he is.

Saturday we had planned a couples baby shower for my sister in law. Even though she had her baby that morning we went ahead with the shower, we had too much catered food to waste!  Matt and I did not get to stay too long since we had a sick babe with us but we enjoyed some fun for a bit!

you can see the rainbow in the back here again, so pretty.

And lets please discuss Sterling’s outfit.  This was obviously the outfit of his choosing, as you know I have real issues with wife beaters. I have a very opinionated 3 year old who insists on dressing himself.  But honestly I was just glad he choose this over a princess skirt so I let it ride.  His pose is classic, fits the outfit so well and has me a little worried about the future… (and that is Daddy’s beer not his).

Outfit Deets:  DVF Dress old but similar HERE and HERE, Dolce Vita Sandals (on sale!), Loren Hope Gold Bracelet
I love a stripped fitted dress on a pregnant woman.  Both dresses I linked to above are on sale and if you plan to wear while pregnant I recommend ordering up a size.  If you don’t own a pair of Dolce Vita Sandals you need a pair, I live in mine all Summer.

Speaking of Stripes, I was browsing Piperlime, they are having their huge Summer Sale right now with up to 70%.  There are some really great finds on there of course the one dress I really want is not on sale.  How great are the colors in this Marc Jacobs stripe dress?  Pretty sure I need it!
{Marc Jacobs Stripe Dress}

But this Splendid Maxi is on sale and I do love it.  It comes in red, green, or blue.  Such a great dress and it looks so comfortable.  It would look really great belted too!  You can shop the sale HERE.
{Splendid Stripe Maxi Dress}

I took Sterling to see his first movie in the theater, Monsters University.  I actually really loved this movie.  It was so cute.  Sterling did pretty well for about an hour then he got antsy.  But if you have kids I really recommend it.  I think I may have enjoyed it more than him!

Hope you have a great Monday we are off to the doctor to get Sterling checked out.  Why is it kids always get sick over the weekend then you have to wait to see the doctor???
xoxo
