Scenes From Our Weekend

Jul 25, 2016

Can y’all believe this is the last Monday in July??  Where has the Summer gone?  Hard to believe school starts in 3 weeks.  I will be sad for Summer to be over, but looking forward to getting back in a routine.  A few snippets from our weekend.

Friday night happy hour spread.

My neighbor Kat made this dip last weekend and I loved it so I made it again.  You just layer hummus, chopped cherry tomatoes and feta.  Then sprinkle with salt and pepper and drizzle with olive oil.  Serve with toasted naan.    That’s the crispy okra from Trader Joe’s beside the naan, its really good.

I got a much needed manicure Friday and branched out with white nails and I am loving them.  I used OPI Alpine Snow.

We picked up Glazed Doughnuts Saturday morning.  They had new doughnut called The Samoa and it tasted just like the girl scout cookie!

After the Farmers Market the kids and I usually stop in Blue Bicycle books.  It is the cutest little bookstore on King Street.  They have a fun kid’s room with toys and books.  I think I was more excited than Frances to find this Coco Chanel book.

Oh and those are my Nikes from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale.  There are only a few sizes left.  I am loving them, def size up a half size though they run small.

Nikes | Purse (on sale) | Coco Chanel Book

Saturday night we had a couple’s date night with some of our good friends.  I have said it before but these white jeans are simply the best.   They are not see through and offer the perfect amount of stretch.

Blouse | Jeans | Wedges | Necklace

We started at Raw167 for dinner.   Their oysters are seriously the best.   They also have really good rose.

Then we ended the evening at Zero George.  We love their bar and the bartender, Kincaid is the best!   That’s him in the back beside me, he let us all sneak behind the bar!

Sunday we hit up the pool and Sunrise Park, a beach that is a mile from our house.   The kids love to collect seashells and shark’s teeth here.

I love the view of Mt Pleasant and downtown from the beach.  A little cloudy but still beautiful.

This tee shirt dress is a recent find.  I loved the fit and style so much I bought the stripes version too.  I live in these easy dresses during the Summer.  I am wearing a size small for reference.

Tee Shirt Dress (under $50) | Sunglasses | Sandals | Necklace

Sunday Dinner.  A delcious vegetarian spread.  I can’t get enough of all the in season produce like tomatoes.  They are so good right now.

Roasted Okra | Garden Veggie Pie | Asian Kale Salad

While I was making my tomato pie, Sterling wanted to make his own pie with some leftover dough.  He actually did a pretty good job.  He used strawberries, brown sugar and sprinkles.  I love that he likes to cook like I do.  He was very proud of his pie.

I am working on an upcoming post about my diet and workout routine this Summer.  I just noticed my all time favorite running shorts are part of the Anniversary sale.  I love these because they sit higher up and don’t fit too tight.  I have two pairs and they are all I wear in the Summer.

Brooks Running Shorts

They also come in two different stripe options and navy.  I am tempted to buy the navy I love my black ones so much.  Sizing wise I have a medium, I don’t like my workout gear too fitted.

Stripe Shorts

Have a great Monday!

Scenes From Our Weekend

Apr 25, 2016

Good Monday Morning.  Today was one of those days where I pressed snooze one too many times.  Back to the grind.

Friday was super low key.  We ordered pizza and watched Mad Men.  We are almost done with the show and I have to admit I am going to miss it.  We have both really enjoyed it.

Today is the last day for the Saks Friends and Family Sale.  This blouse I wore Friday night is 30% off.

RT Blouse also available here (and if you call customer service they will price match)

I also wanted to share this Butterfly Equipment Blouse is now 60% off. This is one of my favorite style  Equipment blouses.  Runs on the large side, so size down. A few sizes are left here too (and they will price match)

Saturday morning the kids and I hit up the Farmers Market.  We have been addicted to buying the huge quarts of strawberries there, they taste like candy they are so sweet!  I usually get a green juice but I switched it up this weekend and tried the Huevos Rancheros and they were off the hook.

Purse is Meli Melo

Sterling is jump castle obsessed.

Saturday afternoon we met some friends for happy hour at the yacht club.  Their son is Sterling’s best friend and we let them do a sleep over at our house afterwards.

Looking for shark’s teeth.

What I wore.

Dress + Purse + Flip flops

Here is another view of the dress.  I wore it a few weeks ago in Dallas.

Of course the kids woke up super early, like 5:30 early.  Doesn’t that always happen with sleepovers?  They really wanted breakfast at The Variety Shop so that is just what we did.

I love the views.

I had the fried green tomato eggs benedict with pimento cheese and it was so good!

This dress I wore over the weekend is now 40% off, making it under $100.

It is actually my sister’s, dress I love that we are the same size and can trade clothes:)  I am wearing a size 4.

Vince C Dress + Wedges

Sunday afternoon we cleaned house, grocery shopped for the week and cooked.  I made another killer recipe from Gwyneth’s new cookbook, The Thai Crab Cakes.  They were seriously the best crab cakes, we have ever cooked.   You serve them with lemongrass mayo and it is such a great flavor combo!

Ended the weekend with a family walk.

Have a great Monday!

Scenes From Our Weekend

Jan 25, 2016

First of all thank you all for the sweet comments on the blog and instagram wishing my kids a speedy recovery.  Thank goodness by the weekend and a solid 4 days on medicine they both seemed to be feeling much better!

Friday morning I awoke to a nasty scene in Frances Moon’s room.  She had taken off her diaper (a common occurrence these days) with a poop that was everywhere!  She then proceeded to tell me her baby doll did it not her.  I took this picture after I had stripped her bed of her cleaning her baby because “she pooped”.  I could not stop laughing!

Friday I picked up lunch from my favorite spots Dellz Deli.  It is a must if you have never tried it before.  I love their black bean hummus wrap (pictured below), pita pizza, veggie tacos, and nachos!

Friday we took it easy and ordered pizza.  We used to order pizza every Friday night but I don’t think we had since before Christmas!  I was missing it!  I made Matt and I dirty martinis with olives I stuffed with blue cheese.  We don’t have them often but it is our guilty pleasure.

The kids have been into building pillow forts in the den.  I thought this was so sweet of them snuggled up with Matt.

Saturday I spent much of the day prepping food for my in-laws birthday party that night.  I did manage to sneak in a much needed Barre Class. I made two tried and true favorites :

Crunchy Iceberg Salad + Antipasto Kabobs

I fell in love with this dress because of the colors and knew it would be perfect for the Birthday Party.

I ended up wearing knee high boots instead of the pumps because it was so cold Saturday night.

Clover Canyon Dress | Julie Vos Necklace | Aleesya Clutch | Madewell Pumps

Matt and I happy to honor his sweet parents and celebrate their 70th Birthdays.

The Birthday boy and girl:)

We had our good friend Ann paint this beautiful picture for them of the 4 grandkids.  You can shop her Etsy shop HERE.  She takes custom orders too which is what we did.  We were thrilled with how the painting turned out!

How adorable are my in-laws?? Btw that cake was off the hook good.  It is from a shop in Mt Pleasant and all they do is Bundt cakes.

Sunday we all went to the County Park.

I think Rodney enjoyed it the most!

Cuddling with my little man because it was cold!

Ready to cheer on the Panthers Sunday night.

Lovers + Friends Blouse | Jeans | Julie Vos Ring | Newbury Booties

We were so excited The Panthers won!  Ready for The Super Bowl!  Frances must have sensed the win too because we found her dabing in her sleep:)

Have a great Monday.

LOL, with the diaper, my two year old son has the same habit of removing his diaper!! Frustrating and funny at the same time.

  5. Fun weekend despite sick kiddos!! I have to admit that I wasn't sure I was in love with that CC dress in your IG picture, but seeing you in it and with those FAB over the knee boots; now I'm totally crushing on it!! It's amazing what seeing it on a person can do sometime rather than just a picture.

  6. Glad to hear the kiddies are feeling better! That bundt cake looks yummm!!

  7. Bahahaha, that Frances Moon poop story cracked me up when I first saw it on Insta and cracked me up again! So glad to hear you are into barre…you should totally check out Barre South when it opens! My absolute favorite barre instructor, Brett, moved to Charleston over the summer and is opening it in the coming months! She is AMAZING! Finally, that birthday celebration looks fabulous–love the painting (what a special gift) and am still swooning over that dress you wore this weekend! Clover Canyon is usually a bit out of my fashion comfort zone, but I could totally see myself rocking that one!

  8. That painting is absolutely gorgeous!! The iceberg wedge looks yum. I'm not sure I've ever had a dirty martini but I LOVE my Mexican Martinis!! It's 100X better than just a margarita! 😀

  9. Would love a post with your favorite cocktail recipes…dirty martini included!!
