Celery Juice +Other Health Trends and Products I am Loving

Feb 12, 2019

Today I wanted to talk about some Health trends and products I am into. I have been receiving tons of messages about my morning celery juice, intermittent fasting and others. This is kind of a hodge podge of health and beauty things I am into. I also want to point out I am not a doctor or health expert I am merely sharing my experiences and products I personally use and like.

CELERY JUICE

I have been doing this for 3 weeks now, starting on my 4th week. I drink celery juice the very first thing in the morning when I wake up. It is only the juice of celery, apparently if you add in other ingredients it is not as effective. I juice about 1 bunch of celery each morning. I will occasionally make it ahead but they really say it is best if you make it and drink it within 15 minutes of juicing. There are tons of articles on the benefits of celery juice. You can read about it HERE. Differences I have noticed personally are feeling less bloated, more energy, appetite control (I have been less hungry) and my skin has looked clearer and brighter.

This is the juicer I have and love. All pieces are dishwasher safe.

INTERMITTENT FASTING

I have been getting tons of questions about this. I do not do this everyday. I think it is great if you can but somedays I want to eat breakfast- do what works for you. I would say I fast 3 maybe 4 days a week. On the days I fast I usually eat a really early dinner like 5/5:30 and then fast til 10/11 the next day. you are supposed to give your body 16 hours without food and then eat during an 8 hour window. There have been lots of studies about how giving your body a break from digesting is good for so many things like inflammation, weight lose, insulin levels and anti aging. You can read more about Fasting HERE.

VITAL PROTEINS COLLAGEN POWDER + HOT LEMON WATER

I have been using this for a year now. I juice one whole lemon, add one scoop of the collagen powder, a dash of cayenne and then top with hot water. I drink this immediately after my celery juice. The collagen helps with hair, skin, nails and joints. The hot lemon water is great for maintaining your body’s PH levels, cleansing the liver, warding off infection and illness, and digestion.

TINKLE RAZORS

These are all the rage for a good reason. They lightly shave and exfoliate your face. It is like microplaning at home. I do this a few nights a week after I wash my face.

Detox Tea– a few nights a week I try (try being the main word) to not have alcohol and drink this detox tea. It is good for your liver and cleansing the body.

Natural Calm– This is something else I like to take some nights before bed. I have mentioned it a few times on here but I feel like it really works to relax you and helps you sleep better. I just put a scoop in a small glass of cold water and drink before bed. It is a magnesium supplement.

and they now come in a gummy version which I just found while writing this post and promptly ordered!!

Castor Oil– my hairdresser and beauty blogger friend Lindsey Regan Thorne recommended Castor oil for hair growth. I am trying to get my eyebrows to grow in and thicken up so I apply to my eyebrows at night. Then I add a drop or two to my shampoo when I wash my hair.

GG Crackers– These are high fiber/low carb crackers that I have been eating for over a year now.  I first heard about GG Crackers when I listened to The Skinny Confidential podcast and they interviewed Tanya Zuckerbrot, the founder of the F Factor diet.  The F Factor Diet focuses around adding more fiber to your diet to add in weight loss.   If you eat 2 crackers which I normally do at a time that is 8 grams of fiber right there and only 4 net carbs.  So low carb, high fiber is always a good combo.  I love having these for breakfast as they really keep me full. They really fill you and provide lots of fiber. I will be honest they do not taste great alone but if you put toppings on them they are not bad. I like to top mine with egg salad, avocado, marinara + salami + cheese and bake, PB and banana- the possibilities are endless.

Daily Harvest Smoothies– I had a few requests to write about this back on my Q&A Post. I love these smoothies because they are quick and easy. I don’t drink these everyday and honestly drink them more in the Summer than Winter. The kids also love them which is awesome. I have yet to try their bowls and soups but they are on my next order. My favorite flavors are the Mint and Cacao, Banana and Greens, Ginger and Greens, and Chocolate Blueberry. The kids love the Peach Strawberry. I usually always mix mine with coconut water but you can use any liquid you like! They are perfect for on the go!

Are you fasting and then the first thing you eat or drink is the celery juice? I feel like want to get on this program of yours for a little bit!

Love all of this! I’ve been drinking celery juice, natural calm, detox tea and using collagen powder for years! It all works! There is also a kids calm magnesium drink I give my kids, which helps them at night!

Interesting! Thanks for sharing. Question! Does the celery juice / lemon collagen water not “break” your fast? Just curious, I would think it technically would?

Do you drink coffee? If so, at what point in the morning do you drink it? I’d love to incorporate your wellness tips into my morning but I need to have coffee too!

Would love to hear how the castor oil works!
