Luxury Organized | Garage Make Over

Oct 13, 2019

My friend Rebecca Steinberg just started a business here in Charleston called Luxury Organized and she does all sorts of tasks around the house- really anything you want or need! I told her my garage was a wreck but I didn’t want to spend a ton of money redoing it. She came to the rescue in a big way. She does all the shopping, installation, cleaning out- and even takes what you don’t want to Goodwill. She will put together Pinterest boards with ideas for you and is just so amazing! She makes it so easy!

We worked with a lot of items I already owned so that cut the costs down. I loved her idea to paint the peg boards with black chalkboard paint, it made a huge difference.

I want to show the afters first but you can scroll to the bottom to see the hot mess it was before:) She had so many great ideas and she made a huge difference on a small budget. My favorite part is the food storage area and clothing racks. I got lots of questions about these and if my garage had AC and yes we have a window AC unit it in. We live in a smaller ranch Brick house so it is nice to have this extra storage area in the garage now.

and here are a few BEFORE pictures:) Yes I am embarrassed it really looked like this, it was a dumping grounds for everything.

Rebecca working her magic. Truly I can’t recommend her enough! You can email her at luxuryorganized@gmail.com, follow her on instagram @luxuryorganized (she posts awesome inspiration pictures) and check out her website HERE.

Looks great. I put rugs down in my garage as well, I use a fan…no window for a unit.

So much better! It’s always nice to see some more ‘realistic’ makeovers and ones done on smaller budgets. The thing that I struggle with with storage in our garage is things getting dusty all the time – I have used the ubiquitous metal wire storage racks which are great but then have to store things like suitcases in bags to protect them – not so pretty!

A small thing – why do professional organisers always insist on unwrapping kitchen roll? Is it just for the photographs and something that they’d never really do IRL? – it seems counterintuitive and unhygienic.

The painting looks great. And, it’s fun to use what you have but I agree I would put plastic over the coats (during off season) and individually wrapped paper towels.
The best part of organizing is hopefully getting rid of a lot of stuff. I live in NYC and really life is easier with less stuff, it’s hard sometimes, but freeing/ makes time for other things than taking care of stuff…
just some ideas from a forced minimalist, who know loves it !
