6 Self Help | Inspirational Books I Love

Jul 28, 2020

I am a huge reader. I love to read all sorts of different topics, but I especially love self help and inspirational books. Over the past few years I have accumulated quite the collection and these are a few standout ones.

Untamed – I was first introduced to Glennon Doyle when I got separated and divorced. My sister in law at the time gave me her book Love Warrior and it blew me away. I could so relate to Glennon and her writing is like reading a book your best friend wrote. Her newest book is filled with short chapters with different stories and lessons learned, I loved it.

Maybe You Should Talk to Someone– I started seeing a therapist while I was married for marriage counseling and then switched to a new one after my divorce. I so could relate to this book written by a therapist who starts seeing a therapist for her own issues. It was one of my all time favorite reads last year.

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck– I read this a few years ago and loved it. It was great for changing the way you think about situations and not wasting your time and thoughts on unimportant things.

Dare | How to Stop Anxiety and Panic Attacks- I have always had anxiety and suffered panic attacks (not frequently but several times). Panic attacks and anxiety are horrible! You live in fear of the next episode happening. This book really helped me. It helped me realize even though it feels as if you will die you are ok. It teaches great steps for calming your mind and realizing the anxiety will pass.

The Daily Stoic – This book has short little passages you read daily. Always good words of wisdom and meditations.

Daring Greatly- I love anything Brene Brown writes. Her words are so powerful and I really resonate with her thoughts on parenting, vulnerability, and life. She also has a wonderful podcast.
