24 Hours in Beaufort

Jul 6, 2021

About 3 years ago the kids and I first started an annual trip to Beaufort, SC just the 3 of us! It has now become a tradition we really look forward to. It is an easy drive from Charleston (less than 1.5 hours) and such a beautiful small town. I frequently get asked what we do there and where to eat so I wanted to share our favorite spots. Keep in mind there is not a ton to do it is a small town but perfect for a weekend or over night get away!

R O A D T R I P S T O P | Carolina Cherry Company + Collective Coffee

Right off 17 about 30 minutes from Beaufort we always have to stop at The Carolina Cherry Company and Collective Coffee. The Cherry Company is the cutest country store filled with homemade dressings, pickles, and other Lowcountry treats. Right beside it is Collective Coffee, an adorable coffee shop. The kids always get a strawberry smoothie and I get the peach iced tea!

We typically stay at The City Lodge. It is nothing fancy at all but it is right downtown and walking distance to everything. I love that it has a coffee shop and a gym. The kids love the big bath tub and warm chocolate chip cookies they drop off at night.

Other Places to Stay

Scout Home– is a really cute home store with an iced tea bar

Cabana 22 – Is another lovely home store. I picked up a coffee table book last time we visited.

Monkey Uncle Toys– the kids love this toy store

Lollipop – a fun candy store for the kids, you can fill a bag or bucket with all kinds of candy! They used to have a build bear station as well but this last time we visited they weren’t doing those.

Lowcountry Produce – always a favorite stop for us. They have fresh squeezed juices, and yummy food. They also sell lots of homemade goodies- try their pickled artichoke hearts and beet chow chow.

Hearth Wood Fire Pizza – the yummiest pasta, pizza, and wings! Fun parent tip if you ask they will give you dough for the kids tp play with! This keeps mine occupied til the food arrives

Saltus | is a fun date night spot. They have a great patio that overlooks the water and the inside is also really pretty. They have a great sushi menu and lots of other delicious eats. We had the lobster Mac and cheese, caprese salad and sushi!

Lost Local – a great Mexican spot with a really tasty spicy margarita. We shared several tacos, oysters and loaded fries all were delicious. I loved the avocado taco.

Plums – another fun waterfront spot. I love their Greek Salad with salmon added.

Wren’s – they have a good wine list and great food. Try the hummus and chicken salad.

Yo-Yo’s Ice Cream– our tradition is we always get ice cream here after dinner. The salted caramel is my favorite. It is the perfect spot to get ice cream and then stroll along the waterfront.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

Sands Beach – this is in Port Royal a quick 10 minute drive from downtown Beaufort! It is suuposseldy a great place to finds sharks teeth and just a fun beach!

Spanish Moss Trail – this is a fun trail to walk and so gorgeous.

Waterfront Park – two weeks ago when we visited the park was under construction but once done it is a fun spot for kids to play. They also have bench swings that are fun to swing and watch the sunset.
