Mom Confessions

Aug 9, 2019

I shared a picture on instastories this week where the kid’s hijacked my nail polish and painted a squishy and said “things that make me want to lose my shit.” Well I got a crazy amount of you who wanted a blog post about this-haha. So it reminded me I have not done a Confessions post in awhile! I think I need to make this a regular series. Chime in with your own confessions!

Here is the infamous squishy. I have to say they did do a legit job painting it and at least put a paper towel down. They also chose Essie over my Chanel nail polish thank goodness.

I am ready for school to start back. There I said it out loud. I love my kids dearly but I thrive on being on a schedule and having time to get things done. I have felt very overwhelmed this Summer trying to meet work obligations and keep the kids happy and busy.

Frances Moon will not pee without me in the bathroom with her. Thats weird right? Wondering how this will go once school starts…….

On that same note neither of my kids flush their pee. I always walk in the bathroom and find pee. How hard is it to flush the toilet?????

The kids have gotten into listening to rain sounds while they fall asleep and the other night Frances Moon said it sounds like a man is peeing. Now that is all I can think when I hear the rain sounds.

This lamp has now been broken twice. Not sure why I even try to have nice things with kids.

The other night I was frustrated about something and I was sitting at my computer trying to respond to emails and Sterling said Mom take a break its happy hour time. He had poured me a glass of wine and put a lemon slice on the side:). and he is wearing pants in this picture- tan joggers I know he looks naked- haha.

I heard Frances Moon playing with her dolls the other day and she said “girls its wine time, get your sassy clothes on.” I about died. I am clearly teaching my kids the importance of wine- haha.

I have gained a solid 5 pounds this Summer- I always do in the Summer because I eat more meals out and consume more wine for my sanity. Once school starts though I am going to be very regimented.

My 40th birthday is March and it is kind of freaking me out I am about to be 40. I know 40 is the new 30 but man 40 seems so old. I am def going to plan some sort of a trip- any suggestions?

Sterling asked me the other day why men liked boobies so much. Answering questions like these and sex questions is always so awkward.

I got carded the other day buying wine- made my entire week.

Frances Moon screams and cries every single time I Brush her hair. It drives me nuts, I kept thinking she would out grow this phase but not likely.

When the kids stay with Matt I clean out all their toys. They never want to get rid of things so I secretly do it when they are gone.

I’m dreading homework especially now that Sterling will be in 4th grade. I had a hard time with 3rd grade math so I can only imagine how 4th grade math will be.

Thank you for this. I get it! I work from home and summers are a challenge.
So many challenges–The guilt that says my children should be constantly entertained. Consumption of everyone’s leftover ice cream, hot dogs and chips. Meeting deadlines while children are hanging from the chandeliers.
Bathroom trips without privacy. A house that is twice as messy when everyone is home.

    Love the confessions!

Mom confessions are the best. I love how candid and real you are to your followers. I have a 2.5 and 1 year old and you give me all these things to look forward to, ha! And the importance of wine is the best, #momgoals
Keep it up, Mama! You’re doing great!

There is a great app to help with math. It’s called photo math. You take a picture of the problem and it shows you how to solve it!

  4. Molly says:

My 8 year old likes the bathroom door open when she pees. Legit will freak out if you shut the door completely, even at restaurants where there are stalls I have to stand at the main door with it propped open with my foot. Soooo strange. And for Sterling, have you tried Revolution Math?? Really fun learning platform!!

  5. Carrie Tamsberg says:

My kids never flush the toilet either. It’s disgusting and there have been several times I have found Margaret playing in their urine filled toilet. I have a hard time understanding why it’s so difficult….‍♀️

  6. Dani Woodruff says:

I secretly clean my kids toys too when they aren’t home. They are such hoarderss!

Love this and your honesty! My 5 year old also has to have me in the bathroom all the time!!!

  9. Tamara says:

Love love love this post and I don’t even have kids! I remember doing math with my mom it became impossible for her to help me by 5th grade…

  10. Meghan says:

    You crack me up!

  11. Melissa says:

hahahaha This is awesome and I laughed aloud a few times. 🙂

  12. Carly says:

I said “girl, same” through this entire post. Kids need to go back to school. I have 8 and 6 year old girls and they both like me to go pee with them and all my toilets have pee in them all.the.time. For sure gained 5 eating and drinking to stay sane and happy this summer. Plus, my girls have ALL the same tiny little toys yours have but times 2 since they both have them! Ahhhhh! 11 days till we go back to school, not that I’m counting, lol.

  13. Krystal says:

    Love this post!! Cheers!!

  14. Morgan says:

This is a comment to give you hope! My girl is 13 and boy 17. The hair brushing screaming will end. So will the need to have mom by the toilet. (Sorry, the flushing thing I can’t guarantee will improve.) Although now that I think of it, the lack of aim by the boy will more than make up for any flushing that might happen. And before you know it, they will have No Toys. #hallelujah Hang in there, I am also a single mom so I know the drill. You are doing awesome!

  15. Natalie says:

I feel ya with the pee! I found more than pee one day when a friend of my son came over for a playdate, the friend is 9, he pooped on the toilet seat and down the side of it.:/ He left it there without telling me….How is the kid 9 and doesn’t know how to sit on a toilet to poop?!!!

  16. Jen says:

Love the honest confessions! I always have an I flushed toilet in the house too. I felt like 40 really was an empowering birthday, and it is proving to be a great time for me. Choose an adventuresome trip: you are strong, celebrate it!

  17. Marisa says:

Love your honesty! Math homework is the worst! Thank goodness for google!

  18. beth cleary says:

ok, they must flush the toilet at school so.. however, my niece never flushed either and we found out, this is gross, they flushed after all the girls in each stall group were finished! WTF! Also, she can pee pee without you, it is called manipulation, you and she will get over that once she is in school, thank the good Lord for school! LOL. Sterling and the wine, on point! and I am 55, so I remember when I turned 40, I felt so much more relaxed, as in, I cared less about what people thought and more secure in my skin! I never cried when they went back to school! Our little mom group went out to breakfast, a schedule helps everyone!

  19. Angie says:

My boys (3 and 6) never flush either. So gross and then I make them go back and do it! Summer time used to easier to lose weight. Since having kids and enjoying sitting outside with a cocktail talking with my husband or neighbors, it isn’t happening. School year routine is so nice! For my 40th next year my husband, myself, my childhood BFF since I was 3 and her husband are all taking a trip to Seattle! Only reason I’m looking forward to the birthday is an adult only long weekend away.

  20. Courtney says:

They did such a good job on the squishy! It looks so real!!! Cheers!

  21. Gentry Adams says:

The sassy clothes comment is the BEST! It’s the best life lesson – ha! Thanks for keeping it real!

  22. Denise Olsen says:

Thanks for keeping it real! You are a great mom!

  23. Lindsay says:

So much yes to this. I lol’ed so hard at the squishy – my kids did the SAME thing and I can’t figure out why in the world they would want to for the life of me! And great job Sterling at being there for your mama!!

  24. Lauren says:

Thanks for keeping it real. It’s always refreshing to see posts like this. I have a two year old girl and a newborn and it’s definitely a struggle trying to maintain my sanity at times. Im going through the same hair brushing thing with my daughter. She freaks out when I even pick up a hairbrush but lets her daycare teachers do all sorts of cute hairstyles. Drives me crazy! Anyway, thanks again. I really enjoy your blog.

  25. Amanda says:

Hang on, I’ve got to get my sassy pants on.

  26. SWC says:

My 18 year old son still does not flush his pee! I’m not sure if this should make you feel better or worse…

  27. Lauren says:

You’re adorable and a great mama. This is too funny.

  28. Crystal says:

Definitely suggest Napa for your 40th. I went last March and it was beautiful!

  29. These are the best! Thanks for keeping it real. My son never flushes the toilet ever, and the old pee smell is SO gross. I’m loving summer, but am very much ready for the routine of the school year. I agree – getting carded is the best thing ever. Who knew we’d love it so much when we were younger? Ha! Bless your heart with the question from Sterling! But it’s also awesome that he’s comfortable enough with you to ask you about those things!
