Our Trip to Beaufort, SC

Jul 30, 2018

Happy Monday!  So I had lots of requests to share details from our trip to Beaufort, SC last week.  A little back story is last year Sterling and I took a trip to Beaufort just the two of us.  Frances Moon was with my parents that week so we had a little mommy/son trip and just fell in love with the town.  He had been begging me to go back so the 3 of us planned a little impromptu trip.  It is such an easy and beautiful drive from Charleston and Frances was thrilled to accompany us!  We had so much fun we decided it would be annual trip for the 3 of us!

If you are driving to Beaufort a must stop on the way is a little country store on highway 17 called Carolina Cider Company.

It is filled with so yummy goodies like jellies, homemade dressings, pickled veggies, candy etc!  I heard their pies are really good too.  The kids and I both love to browse here!

My travel outfit:

Off Shoulder Blouse | Shorts | Earrings | Sandals

We stayed at the City Loft Hotel , the same place Sterling and I stayed last year.  It is a great location DT where we could walk to everything and it is not crazy expensive.  It has a cute coffee shop at the bottom, a gym and all the rooms have a big bath (which the kids loved) and a legit shower! We booked a King room and all shared a King bed which was tight quarters for 2 nights, but no need for 2 rooms for just the three of us.  Plus the kids loved piling in bed all together.

Sterling and Frances just love a hotel:)  Who doesn’t love a good hotel robe paired with ice cream??

They wanted to check out the gym everyday!  Luckily the hotel is small so the gym was always empty.  I would not have let them inside if there were people working out!

Legit Plank form right there!

RESTAURANTS– Beaufort has so many cute spots to eat.  We didn’t even get to make it to all the places we wanted to try but there is always next year!

LowCountry Produce– this is located directly across the street fro our hotel.  It was a favorite from last year so we knew we had to go back!

The inside is just adorable and they also sell all sorts of gourmet foods like tomato pie, pimento cheese, granola, and canned goodies.  I always stock up on the pickled green tomatoes and pickled artichokes!

Their ” Traveler’s breakfast” is my favorite.  It is 2 eggs, avocado toast with balsamic vinegar, toast with fig jam, fresh tomatoes and bacon.  They honestly have the best bacon ever.

Their homemade doughnuts are also incredible and a huge hit with the kids.  They are covered in a homemade icing that is divine!

Plums is an adorable spot on the water.  We also ate here last year and loved it.  It has a cute atmosphere and I love that you can sit outside!

Sterling was in hog heaven with the oysters.  It makes me laugh how much he loves oysters.

I had the Greek Salad with Salmon- super tasty.

and the kid’s meal was insane for $5.  So much fresh fruit and the gouda mac and cheese is delicious.

Wren Bistro and Bar – This is a little more upscale, I loved the atmosphere.  It was totally fine with the kids but probably not the most kid friendly spot.  Would be a great date night spot.

I had the fried green tomatoes and the kid’s did grilled cheese that were really good.  I heard their chicken salad is also amazing.

Hearth Wood Fired Pizza– I absolutely loved this spot, but then again I live for pizza!!  Everything was delicious and the atmosphere was so cute too.

We shared a pepperoni pizza, wings and a salad.   All of their pizzas sounded amazing but my kids are pretty basic when it comes to pizza so we just did pepperoni.  The wings and salad were both on point.

YOYO’S Ice Cream– If you want a sweet treat we loved this little ice cream spot.  They had all sorts of homemade cones and yummy ice cream flavors.  Sterling got a salted caramel one that was so good!

SHOPPING and OTHER ACTIVITIES

The Lollipop Shop– this was definitely the kid’s favorite spot.  They have a build bear station which they loved!  It is also a super cute candy store.

Frances Moon trying to decide which little friend to build.  They let you stuff the little ones with candy and then send home extra stuffing for when the candy is gone.

This was her big bear that she stuffed:)

Scout Southern Market– This was my favorite shop!!  Beautiful home stuff, accessories, clothes and jewelry!  I bought a dress here and a gorgeous agate picture frame.

The main street downtown has lots of really shops.  You can just stroll the whole street and stop in shops.  Monkey’s Uncle is a really cute toy shop.   M Home and Garden was another great home shop.

The Sands Beach– was a great spot my friend Megan told us about.  It is a cool beach area filled with lots of sharks teeth.  It was about a 10 minute drive from our hotel.  The beach was not very crowded and Sterling found quite a few shark’s teeth. He truly has an eye for finding them because I never can!

Waterfront Park– There is really cute waterfront park right near all the shops and restaurants in downtown Beaufort.  We played there both days.

My Outfit for our last day and trip home.  I had to share because I love this dress!  I am wearing a small.

Tassel Dress

A few places people recommended but we did get to were Hunting Island, The Shrimp Shack for great Shrimp burgers, Old Bull Tavern, Barefoot Bubbas, and The Chocolate Tree.  They are all on our list for next year! Thankful of these two precious babes of mine and all the sweet memories we made together on this trip.

My brother-in-law once worked in the Beaufort area so we visited him and my sister while they were there many years ago. We had a great time in that area, it’s so pretty. We loved Barefoot Bubbas, I even had a t-shirt from there! Glad you had a nice little getaway with the kids…making memories with them is a priceless gift.
