My Favorite Spots to Eat in Charleston + What I Order

Feb 28, 2020

One of my most frequently asked questions is where to eat in Charleston. We have so many amazing restaurants here. I have so many favorites butI tried to narrow it down to the places I frequent the most. I included my favorite items I order off the menu as well:)

BUTCHER AND BEE– one of my all time favorite spots. Everything on the menu is amazing. A few favorites : whipped feta, little gem salad, hummus bowl, veggie burger.

LEON’S another all time favorite. I live for their Siam salad. I also love the fried Brussels, avocado toast, and fried chicken sandwich.

GOAT SHEEP COW– they recently opened this second location with seating and you can also purchase cheese and meats. They have the best cheese and meat selection in town. You must try the Raclette and their Nicoise salad is out of this world. Definitely get the charcuterie.

THE GROCERY– a great dinner spot. My favorites are the fried oysters, Italian salad, roasted root veggies, cauliflower. This is a great place to order several items and share them. If you like martinis the dirty green martini is legit amazing.

LEYLA– this is a hidden gem. I love Lebanese food and the owners here are so wonderful. The lentil salad is my go to. Their hummus is a must, I also love their fattoush salad, greek salad, and veggie plate.

BASIC KITCHEN – if you want healthy clean eats this is your spot. I love the bright airy atmosphere. They fresh squeeze all their juices and if you like beets the beet margarita is a must. I love the buffalo cauliflower, the hummus, and the basic bowl.

GLAZED– the best doughnuts in town. It is a Saturday tradition for the kids and I to go here. The Raspberry and Maple Bacon are our favorites.

JOSEPHINE– this is a fun spot for cocktails and apps. The curry roasted carrots are a must.

XAO BAO BISCUIT– If you like ethnic food this place is a dream. I dream about this cabbage pancake, add the candied pork and bacon. The black bean chicken is another favorite.

PURLIEU- the atmosphere is lovely here.. The cheeseburger is amazing! Also the artichoke gratin, gnocchi and baby beets.

EDISONthis is a spot on James Island we frequent. We love their brunch and dinner. For brunch the avocado toast and breakfast gnocchi are favorites. Dinner I love the Tuna and Salmon salad.

PICKLED PALLETE– this is cute lunch spot. I live for their Vegan Sandwich. Their pimento cheese is also awesome.

HALLS CHOPHOUSE- all time favorite we go here often. I love the steak martini, chopped salad and the pineapple martini is so good.

CRUST- one of my favorite spots for pizza. Their burrata salad is a must and the arancini.

LEWIS BBQ– Best BBQ in town. The brisket is a must. Also I live for all the sides.

BON BANH MI– this is small little spot DT with not much seating but they did open a larger location in Mt Pleasant. I pick up lunch to go here frequently. I love the salad with the 5 spice pork or lemongrass chicken. I also love the pork tacos.

HARBINGER CAFE– this is cute breakfast spot. I love their Turmeric latte and avocado toast.

Omg I just had The Butcher and the Bee in Nashville. Literally the best food ever. Any chance you know the secret recipe to the whipped feta?

Thanks. Love this post. We just visited Charleston in September and hope to come back again soon. Went to 82 Queen for the first time and Leon’s. Loved them.
