Our Amelia Island Trip + Highlander Thoughts

Aug 4, 2020

Swimsuit | Glasses | Sandals

Last week we took a family vacation to Amelia Island. The kids had never been so we thought it would be a fun getaway. Toyota even loaned us a Highlander to test drive which we LOVED (more on that later in the post).

A few of you asked where we stayed and about traveling during Covid. Obviously this is a personal choice and about your comfort level. We stayed at the Omni, we were going to do the Ritz but the prices were just so high. We wanted a suite for the 4 of us and I couldn’t justify paying that just for a place to sleep. The Omni was great (No Ritz I have stayed there too) but it was very family friendly. The hotel was not crowded at all and everyone was required to wear masks, so we felt very safe. We ate all meals outside and tried to be as cautious as we could. We declined to have our room to cleaned and made other adjustments to feel safe.

Wore this dress for the road trip and it is on major sale right now, extra 50% off.

The hotel has 3 pools- an adult pool, a family pool, and a baby pool, which is really nice. There is a bar at the pool and you can order drinks and food while you lounge. They also had this grassy area where the kids could play.

The hotel was oceanfront which was really nice. Easy access to the beach right off the pool.

Virgin daiquiris for the kids- this is my kid’s favorite thing on vacation .

And adult beverages for us.

We dined at several fabulous restuarants. On the hotel property we loved Marche Burrette, they also have a really cute wine/gourmet store.

I had the veggie wrap, so yummy.

We also loved Barzin. It is located in a cute little house. We sat on the porch and it was so adorable.

The truffle fries are a MUST

Also loved the Rueben and Turkey BLT

My favorite meal was at Burlingame. My parents recommended this spot and we loved it. We sat out on the patio and it was just precious with twinkle lights.

The fried okra was amazing and I had the veggie risotto and cleaned my entire plate.

I also wanted to talk about the Highlander, Toyota was gracious enough to let us drive for the week. We loved it so much. A few of my favorite features were the bucket seat, the giant sunroom, plug ins for devices at every seat, and the seats were not only heated but had AC as well.

I loved how large the drivers screen was as well.

This was the car loaded with one set up on the third one row and we had plenty of room for our luggage. Perfect for a family of four.

The kids loved it, it was a great family car. I would highly recommend it.
