Our Staycation at Hotel Emeline

Jul 21, 2021

Last week the kids and I packed up and headed downtown for a staycation at Hotel Emeline. Hotel Emeline just celebrated their one year anniversary this month. The hotel is located in the heart of downtown on Church Street in such a great location. You can easily walk to the market and King street for shopping and dining.

Hotel Emeline is designed to feel like you are walking into a Southern Home. That is exactly what it felt like from the plush couches, to the open coffee table books, to the unique decor. You truly feel like you are hanging out in a really cool home. The atmosphere is inviting, warm, cozy and welcoming. The design firm Swoon out of Dallas,TX designed all the interiors and they are just gorgeous.

A fun fact is they worked with several local artists on certain aspects of the hotel. Artist Whitney Stoddard who I just love painted the coolest mural behind the front desk and Smithy Ironware (We have their cast iron skillet and love it) did all the railings!

I had a major love affair with this wallpaper (I spy my friend Katie stevenson’s beautiful art below)!

The kids and I shared two adjoining identical rooms. They both had full bathrooms with showers and were a nice size. Perfect for families traveling with kids. The decor was simple yet elegant.

I remember being a kid and just loving a hotel stay. The kids were so happy to stay here.

I highly recommend dining at Frannie and the Fox, a restaurant located right in the hotel. They just started serving breakfast and dinner and also offer room service. We all shared several dishes which were all incredible. Evans and I said it was one of the best meals we have had in long time.

They have an adorable inside dining room and a spacious patio as well. I loved the use of the color green in the design and all the greenery.

Below are all the delicious items we shared from Frannie and the Fox.

Blue Crab Fritters with mascarpone and Calabrian chili

Tuna Crudo

Mussels – my kids had never had Mussels before and absolutely loved them.

Mozarella + Prosciutto – they make their mozarella and ricotta in house homemade and it was divine.

Beef and Lamb Meatballs with whipped ricotta

Of course the kids wanted to each order a dessert. They shared the apple crisp and chocolate cake with pistachios and ice cream.

The outdoor patio at Frannie and the Fox is perfect for lounging with a drink. They just recently started doing events and weddings here as well so you can rent the space.

The hotel also rents bikes and a Mini Cooper convertible for free which is a fun way to explore the town! The kids of course wanted to take the convertible for a spin and we had a blast driving around downtown.

Inside the hotel there is also the cutest coffee shop called Clerks. They serve a small menu of breakfast sandwiches, homemade pastries (the blueberry muffin was incredible) and coffee drinks.

The honey cinnamon latte was my favorite. Also try the crispy grits. They are fried with spinach, mushrooms and cheese mixed in, so yummy. Almost like a hash brown but grits.

Thank you so much to Hotel Emeline for hosting us, we had such a lovely stay and I highly recommend checking out the hotel!
