Martha’s Vineyard + Nantucket

Jun 20, 2022

I finally uploaded all our photos so get ready for photo overload from our trip to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. This was our second year going we just love it. Both Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket are just magical, they are exactly like how you would imagine them to be- quaint, gorgeous landscaping and views!

Getting there is a little bit of an ordeal. I had a few questions about this. You first fly into Boston. Then from Boston is about an hour and 45 minute ride to where the ferry takes off. We always rent a Limo for this drive which makes it so nice. We relaxed, played music sipped a few cocktails and the ride went by quickly. Then you board the ferry and take about a 40 minute ride to Martha’s Vineyard. We stayed in Edgartown so from the ferry drop off point it is another 20 minute ride.

Same deal with Nantucket. You take a 15 car ride to that ferry spot and then it is a 40 minute ferry ride which drop you right downtown in Nantucket. Lots of moving parts to get to these places but worth it!

Our friends own a house right downtown in Edgartown and that is where we stay, it is such a great location. It is the cutest house feels like straight out of an Elin Hilderbrand novel!

This breakfast spot, Rosewater Cafe is right next door and we just love it! Amazing bagels and avocado toast. we went there most mornings for coffee and a small bite to eat.

We love having lunch at the Seafood Shanty. Amazing views and just a fun spot on the water! We always get the lobster dip, oysters and buffalo chicken.

I love Edgartown Books, it Is just so charming. if you are a book lover you must stop in!

Our entire crew:)

Dinner was at Bettini inside the Harborview hotel. This was a nice more upscale spot! Great drinks and food plus a gorgeous view.

The Harborview Hotel was really cool looks like a great spot to stay!

After dinner we had drinks at the Wharf, we went here two times during our trip because we loved the bartender. Kind of a dive bar but really fun!

The next day we got up and took the ferry to Nantucket. We always stop at this little bar on the water for a drink before the ferry ride. I will say this ferry ride was rough! It made us feel sick to sit inside so we sat outside and it was cold, windy and very bumpy. I was happy to get off it!

In Nantucket we stayed at the Jared Coffin House, an older historic hotel. We were able to walk here from the ferry.

The very narrow staircase in the Jared Coffin House!

Lunch at Crown and Rose. Kind of a bar atmosphere but really good food. We ate here last year too! The lobster BLT is amazing!

After lunch we shopped a little, my favorite shop was Erica Wilson! So many great brands are carried here, I got an Ulla Johnson blouse I love!

Pre Dinner drinks at Queequegs. They have a cute outdoor patio!

Then off to dinner at Chanticleer. This was about a 20 minute ride from downtown. While it was a stunning property the food was honestly not the best. They did have a nice wine selection though!

The next day our plans kind of got ruined as the one ferry from Nantucket to Marthas Vineyard stopped running because of maintenance issues. We had planned to spend the entire day in Nantucket but had to instead leave to take two different ferries back. We did stop for lunch at Club Car before we left Nantucket and loved it. This is Kevin Spacey’s restaurant. The atmosphere and food were on point!

These roasted sweet potatoes were insane! I need to recreate at home.

Last view leaving on the ferry.

Our detour took us to Hyannis in Cape Cod. Their Yacht Club is a brother to ours so we stopped there for a drink while we waited on our second ferry back to the Vineyard. It was a day of traveling that we hadn’t planned on.

The houses in Martha’s Vineyard are just the cutest. All with perfectly landscaped yards!

The next morning we had to leave at 6:30 am in order to catch the ferry and our flight back home. Of course it was the most perfect weather day! All in all I wish we had one more day in light of all the traveling. We will be back though I am sure and want to take the kids! See below for more Nantucket recs!
