I have slowly been decorating our house since the second week of November. It has been nice not to feel rushed and to be able to really truly enjoy decorating. I just love decorating for Christmas, the lights and decor bring me so much joy. Both Sterling and Frances Moon love it too, they both have mini trees in their rooms, they love to decorate with special ornaments. Growing up I just have such fond memories of my mom and dad decorating for Christmas and I hope my kids have the same memories.
Holiday traditions are such a big part of the season and for me and what gives the season true meaning are these little traditions!
A few of our family traditions are:
-we always light a Christmas candle every night. I am huge fan of a pine scent and also a fresh winter scent. We don’t do a real tree because of allergy reasons but I still love my house to smell like one! I love the Yankee Candle Balsam & Cedar, and Mistletoe scents. They smell like a fresh cut Christmas tree in my den. They truly smell some candles barely have a fragrance and these smell so good! My entire den smells like fresh cut Christmas trees when I light these two!
I also love the Yankee Candle Twinkling Lights scent, it is so fresh and smells lovely. I really like the new modern look of the Yankee Candle Tumbler Jars, I think they look so pretty set out with holiday decor. Right now they are running an awesome promo where you get a $12 medium candle! The best part about these candles besides the lovely fragerence is they last forvever, they burn so many hours!
-we take the kids and visit the James Island Festival of Lights where we sip hot chocolate and drive and look at beautiful lights. Santa is always there too:)
-we bake and decorate Christmas cookies
-we donate gifts for angels off the angel tree
-breakfast with Santa at our local Yacht Club where we also do a big donation for toys for tots
-neighborhood golf cart parade to look at lights
-we watch lots of Christmas movies – favorites are ELF, Last Holiday, The Holiday and Christmas Chronicles 1 +2
-we do a big brunch at Halls
-we make a usually (very messy) gingerbread house
-advent calendars
-hot chocolate board- started this last year and the kids loved it
-reading a different Christmas story each night and Christmas Eve we read the story of Jesus birth.
-Christas Eve dinner with my little family and then Christmas Day Dinner with my entire family!
Holiday traditions are the best!
