5 New Restaurants to Try in Charleston

Oct 1, 2018

I get so many requests from people wanting to know where to stay and eat while in Charleston.  At the top of my blog there is a tab called Charleston Recs where you can access that info!  That being said Charleston is always changing and growing so I wanted to highlight a few new favorite dining spots!  I will work on a new post about where to stay and what to do as well- if you guys would like that?   These are 5 restaurants I tried recently and LOVED!

P A R C E L  3 2- 442 King Street

First of all I am obsessed with their outside wall of plants, pure perfection!

The inside was just as beautiful as the outside.

We ordered lots of items to share and everything was wonderful.  I really liked the menu,  lots of fresh local veggies. The hushpuppies were a favorite we went back and ordered a second order!  Their menu is locally sourced and changes seasonally.  We also had the mac and cheese, carrots, and lima bean salad.

F E L I X – 550 King Street

I loved the atmosphere here and the food and drinks were so good!  They fresh squeeze all their drinks and make the best cocktails.    I had this vodka grapefruit one and it was delicious.

We shared several dishes and I honestly loved everything.  The lobster deviled eggs were amazing.

I also loved this salad and want to recreate it at home.  That bottom layer is a layer of whipped brie then butter lettuce and fennel topped with fresh herbs and hazelnuts.  It was amazing.

The truffled mushroom flatbread was also delicious.

N I C O – 201 Coleman Blvd

I have now been to Nico 3 times and love it!   It is located in the Shem Creek area in Mount Pleasant.   For those of you who watch Southern Charm it is Naomi’s family’s restaurant. They have a cute outdoor seating area and the inside was cool as well.

We shared several dishes.  We started with the chef’s oyster samples which is 12 oysters of his choosing.  They were all so fresh, really good oysters.

We had the tuna tartare and goat cheese salad.  I will say the salad didn’t move me, small and not enough toppings.

The roasted beets.

and my favorite the seafood gnocchi, it was all really delicious.  I always order this now it is so good!

M E L F I ‘ S – 721 King Street

I just tried this last weekend and I am already dreaming about going back!!  Everything was on point.  This is run by the same group that does Leon’s another of my top 10 favorites and they can do no wrong.

We shared the pea and prosciutto salad + roasted sweet potatoes + ricotta bruschetta not pictured.

This salad rocked my world.  I highly recommend it.  It was so fresh and light and the combo of peas and prosciutto was so good.

We also shared the white pizza which was insane.  I want to go back and try every pizza!  They are all wood fired and thin crust which I love.

S O R G H U M + S A L T- 186 Coming Street

I have eaten here twice now and I love the chef.   Their menu changes daily and they focus on local ingredients.  The dishes are so innovative and lots of great veggie dishes which I love.  My dishes probably are not on the menu any more but I thought I would share.

A few dishes we loved- Spaghetti Squash Cake topped with braised short ribs.

Polenta with charred corn and a poached egg.

Sweet Potatoes with cilantro yogurt and crispy bacon leeks- this was amazing!

Homemade sausage with fennel and pears.

The pork chop was also good.  It was served with pickled cauliflower on top which I loved!

You are so lucky to live in a place that has such fantastic options for restaurants. I feel like all we have are chains in Colo. Sprgs.
