Scenes From Our Weekend

Aug 24, 2015

This weekend flew by.  How is it possible we only have one weekend left in August?? Just crazy. This is a short week for us, as Matt and I leave for NYC Thursday. I am super exited to explore the city!

After school Friday the kids and I headed to Charlotte for the weekend.  Saturday was my nephew Maxton’s first birthday and we didn’t want to miss it!  I was so proud of Sterling for having such a great first week at kindergarten.

Joie Blouse | Jeans | Necklace

These 3 always love to be together.  Sterling and Finley both love the Minions.

One of my favorite parts of going home is the breakfasts my Dad always cooks us.  His pancakes are the best ever and he never skimps on bacon:)  It is such a treat to have someone else cook for you!

Saturday we celebrated my sweet nephew, Maxton’s first Birthday.  Sometimes I still can’t believe my little brother is a dad!  He will forever be like 16 in my mind.

My mom and dad with the birthday boy.

They had food truck come which I thought was the most genius idea.  I may try and do this for Sterling’s next birthday.  It was a cheeseburger and french fry food truck- if you live in Charlotte they were awesome.

Frances got soaked at the water table- hence no dress:)

What I wore:

Topshop Dress | Twine and Twig Necklace | Joie Sandals

Frances Moon looking adorable before the party and before getting soaked.  She loves to accessorize with a necklace.

Tea Dress | Little Twine and Twig Necklace

Got back in town in time for happy hour with Matt.  Jalapeno Margarita + Pizza was the perfect end to our weekend. For those who requested the margarita recipe:

Jalapeno Margaritas (makes 2 )

4 oz tequila

2 limes juiced

about 1-2 tablespoons honey or agave nectar

1 jalapeno sliced

place all in shaker with ice and shake up

Have a great start to your week!

Happy Monday!  Thank you all for all the awesome comments from my post Friday!  I felt a little vulnerable sharing all that stuff but loved reading every single comment I got!  You know how to make a girl feel loved on her Birthday.  Today marks my first day as a 34 year old and I am ready to embrace this age and have a fantastic year!

I have been wanting to go do a tasting at the Firefly Distillery forever and finally talked Matt into going for my Birthday weekend.  We went with Caycee and Todd and had the best time.  They do vodka and wine tastings for only $6.  It was fun to taste the different vodkas and wine they make out there and see where it was made.  Such a fun thing to do if you are a local.

Afterwards we all bought a bottle of wine and sat outside and enjoyed it!  It really is gorgeous out there!

Afterwards we hit the Fat Hen for the most delish jalapeno margaritas, fried pickles and burgers.

My mom and sister surprised me with a camera for my Birthday.  I seriously use my iphone for all my pictures.  I never wanted to invest in a big camera because I knew I wouldn’t take it anywhere with me.  This camera is small, has incredible zoom features and you can upload right to instgram, fb and the web straight from the camera.  It kicks ass.  A great camera if you are looking for a new one.

Samsung Galaxy Camera

The weather was so warm this weekend I was finally able to wear my new Lauren Lail Library Josie Shorts.  Her shorts are my favorite because they are comfy and can be dressed up or down!  I love the new floral pattern this year.

The kids were so adorable this weekend.  I love now that Frances is getting older she recognizes Sterling and just loves him so much.   She gazes at him and just giggles when he talks it melts my heart.

My in-laws gave me a vase of the prettiest azaleas from their yard.  I just love azaleas.

Ended the weekend with alot of snuggles with these two.

Have a fantastic week!

xoxo

Scenes From Our Weekend

Feb 24, 2014

Happy Monday.  I hope everyone had an excellent weekend, we certainly did.  I caught up on organizing and cleaning house which is such a good feeling.  After all our events last weekend we wanted a weekend with minimal plans!!

Friday Caycee and I hit up Lee Lee’s Hot Kitchen for lunch. Let me tell you  it was incredible.  I will be frequenting there!  We shared the ginger beef and green bean chicken and both were off the hook.  If you love Chinese food you must check this place out, it was so fresh.

Friday night we made Crock Pot Chicken Philly Cheesesteaks and they were so good.  Plus they were so easy.  The meat was super tender and flavorful.  You can get the recipe HERE.

I wore my red Tieks in honor of Heart Awareness month.  If you don’t have Tieks you need a pair they are my favorite ballet flats.  Super comfortable and they come in the best colors!

Ever since turning 4, a certain someone has been very bossy and had a major attitude- this is a common look he gives me.  He thinks he is the boss, its a constant struggle.

Frances Moon turned 3 months and I can’t believe how fast time is flying. She is still the sweetest baby ever, always smiling.

Saturday I went to my dear friends baby shower.  I was so proud of my wrap job I made Matt take a picture!  Wrapping paper is from Homegoods, they always have the best paper selection!

I made the mistake of buying the mini Cadbury eggs, lord help me I can’t stop eating them.  The new dark chocolate ones are incredible.  I need to try the white chocolate ones next.

I got super lucky and scored this Jonathan Adler Kangaroo at TJmaxx.  I was ecstatic.  It looks just perfect in Frances Moon’s nursery.

Gap is having their big kids semi-annual Sale and there are some great deals.  A few of my favorites.

Have a great start to your week!

Scenes From Our Weekend

Jun 24, 2013

Is it just me or do the weekends fly by way too fast??

I am almost halfway thru my pregnancy which is hard to believe. I officially have a full on bump.  I am loving being pregnant so much more this time around but I still worry everyday about every little thing, just praying this baby is healthy and the rest of my pregnancy goes smoothly!

I am trying to enjoy and savour all these moments with Sterling while he is an only child.  He seriously melts my heart, he has such a big and sweet personality. I have spent many nights cuddling in bed with him and his “friends.”

Friday night we cooked out at the Yacht Club with Matt’s family to celebrate Father’s Day belatedly.  I whipped together a salad with some Farmers Market goodies that was amazing.

Saturday we hit up the Farmers Market and this is what Sterling chose to wear- I can’t make these outfits up.  He definitely got alot of attention.

That night we went on a family boat ride.  It was so nice, we are so incredibly lucky to live near the water!  I whipped together some mini BLT’s for our boat ride- my newest obsession.  We (and I mean Matt and I)  demolished the entire tray of them.

We cruised around for several hours.  The water was so calm it was really nice and there are some gorgeous views right behind our house.

While we were cruising I discovered (gasp) a varicose vein on my leg- WTF.  I had previously thought it was just a bruise but it just never went away.  I never had these while I was pregnant with Sterling.  Do they go away post pregnancy?

I have really been trying not to shop alot and lets face it shopping is not as fun when you are extra round in the middle but I can’t get this dress out of my head that Natalie blogged about last week.  It would look so cute preggo and after too.  Anyone own this dress is it as cute in person?

 ONE RESORT MAXI DRESS

Loved this quote, have a great Monday.

  7. Sterling is just so cute he doesn't seem real. My best friend is pregnant and I sent her the link to your blog for some cute preggo style! 9. Alexa says:

Ah looks like such a fun weekend. And I totally know what you mean about trying to savor every moment as a Mama of One. I have 3 weeks left till number 2 arrives. Can't believe it!

  10. I own the dress in pink and it is adorable, comfortable, and a great addition to my summer wardrobe. In short, buy.

  11. Thanks for planning my dinner tonight! BLT's will be crazy yum. šŸ™‚

  12. Virginia says:

Love your bump! I'm 24 years old with no children and I have a few of those veins. I think it can also be a hereditary thing too. Share your secret if you find a way to make them less noticeable! Love that dress! It's a great price with so many colors to choose from!

  13. Umm I have been waiting for someone to chime in and say YES varicose veins will go away and give me some glimmer of hope! UNFORTUNATELY, at 6 months postpartum I will say I still have a handful of them on the sides of thighs. So gross. I still have hope they will go away though. Or that a spray tan will help disguise them. Either way, that bump is just beautiful girl!

  14. you look fantastic! I am dying for that One dress on Shopbop, and it's perfect for your cute prego self. I hate to tell you my veins got worse after the 2nd pregnancy and they haven't gone away…definitely on my list of things to get fixed in the years to come!

  15. Looks like a great weekend. I am crazy over BLTs and those look amazing. Get that dress! I could like it in every color. By the way, pregnancy looks so, so good on you.

  16. What a perfect way to enjoy BLTs!! I never thought of making them cute and all cut like that. I don't think the veins go away unless you get surgery? Small price to pay for healthy babies, is what I try to say. You're adorable!

  17. Anne says:

You look so fantastic!! Can't believe you're 1/2 way through the pregnancy already. If you keep mentioning that dress I'm gonna have to bite the bullet too. So cute!
Also – adding bacon to my grocery list – those BLTs look like da bomb.com.

  18. Christina says:

I was about to tell you I had that same skirt (pic 1) but then realized there's no way…bc clearly that is maternity. Duh. I have one similar…ha. I adore you for letting Sterling go out dressed like that. I feel like some moms would be too uptight/concerned w/ outward appearance and you are just letting him embrace his sense of fashion! Love that so much. I ate so much bacon this weekend. You must try the bacon from whole foods. I swear to goodness, I got breakfast from their hot bar on Saturday and it saved my life. Best bacon and eggs EVER.

  19. Alicia xoxxo says:

Great dress! You are halfway through your pregnancy! Yay! I will say prayers for a healthy baby and an easy delivery! You look amazing too by the way. Dont worry about that tiny spider vein. Small price for a beautiful baby šŸ˜‰

  20. Those sandwhiches look amazing. Amazing. And I have one of those darn veins too. Ugh.

  21. Sterling's outfit is just awesome!

Not sure about the veins, but I do know there is a surgical way to remove them. Hopefully you won't have to deal with that!

  22. Ashley Brown says:

Wow your pregancy is flying by! That dress is adorable and those blts look delish!

  23. Love all your weekend pictures! Those mini BLT's must have been a hit. I am on a serious BLT kick myself, and I like to add avocado for a twist. I had a really tough time with veins during my second pregnancy. We're talking compression hose-the works! After James was born they did improve slightly, but now, 15 months later I am personally starting to have issues. For cosmetic and health reasons I have been approved for surgery this fall. Honestly speaking, try not to worry because yours will most likely clear all by itself.

  24. *To follow up- I had slight varicose vein issues noticed at month 8 with my first pregnancy, and those did clear in the time between my second pregnancy. I guess everyone is different and I think genetics plays a role.

  25. Those mini BLT's are making me hungry! You look seriously fab for being 20 weeks along!

  26. I have that dress and love it! Sooo comfy! I have worn it with heels to a wedding and dressed down to run errands. Get it you will love it!

  27. You are so cute! Those mini blt's look so freaking good. I would have eaten the whole tray! No really! And I admit my veins didn't go away after Tagg. Boo.

  28. I have to agree with Julia, no-go on the going away after pregnancy…they faded a bit, but damn it, my body will never be the same!!! )c: And That dress has totally been on my mind since you blogged about it! It really it just perfect for the bump and post-bump!

  29. Leslie says:

Your bump is so cute, and I cannot believe you are half way there! Also, Sterling's outfit is hilarious.

  30. Sterling is just the cutest little thing and I love all of the outfits he puts together!! I can't believe you are already half way through…you look fab!!

  31. Katie says:

I was obsessed with BLT's during my second pregnancy too! You must be having a girl! šŸ˜‰

I unfortunately had horrible vericose veins with both of my pregnancies. I'm told they only get worse with each pregnancy and I can certainly speak to that. They went down almost immediately after having my daughter but they still exist. They are so ugly and I am so self conscious about them but mine are ten times worse than yours. All worth it though because I have two healthy kids šŸ˜‰

I can't believe you're already half way there. So exciting! Keep enjoying those moments with Sterling. It will be tough when the new baby comes!

  32. kelly says:

There is so much extra blood flow in your body when you are pregnant and that is why varicose veins often appear during that time. Try to put your feet up when possible. Of course this is impossible during the day with a child but at night when you watch TV just elevate your legs. Compression tights are an option to help prevent more veins but they are horrible. After the pregnancy is over you can have them injected which collapses the vein and makes it go away. very simple and not too expensive. I developed some during my twin pregnancy and was mortified but had them taken care of after. good luck

  33. I love that dress!

So jealous y'all live right on the water! Boating is my favorite thing to do! Lastly, I have had BLTs on the mind lately..we have a few leftover from a cookout last week and I think you've convinced me to whip some up tonight!

  34. Morgan S. says:

unfortunately, i believe vericose veins are laser-removed only. i have a few, but don't fret, it will likely get less noticeable after pregnancy when your blood flow pressure is a lot less on it.

  35. megan says:

Once again, we missed each other at the yacht club! šŸ™ Confession – I made Cameron a salad tonight and made myself a fried green tomato blt. Fatty.
